NATIONAL DAY OF AFRO-BOLIVIAN PEOPLE AND CULTURE

The Plurinational Legislative Assembly has sanctioned the following Law:
Law No. 200
Declared on September 23 “National Day of the Afro-Bolivian People and Culture”, in order to reaffirm the identity and culture of African descendants in Bolivia. During the “National Day of the Afro-Bolivian People and Culture”, cultural events will be held to promote the richness of the African ancestry culture and its contributions to the development of society and culture of the Plurinational State of Bolivia.
The Ministry of Cultures, within the framework of its competences, shall prioritize and execute the specific tasks of studying, researching and promoting the culture of the Afro-Bolivian people, as well as the recovery of ancestral knowledge, historical facts and emblematic places. .
The Ministry of Development Planning and the National Institute of Statistics (INE in Spanish), will develop the necessary policies to include the Afro-Bolivian self-identification variable, in the census ballot and periodic surveys, to implement and protect the rights of the Afro-Bolivian people .
Refer to the Executive Body, for constitutional purposes. It is given in the Session Room of the Plurinational Legislative Assembly, on the seventeenth day of the month of November of the year two thousand and eleven.
